“100% natural”, “space” and “paradise”: these are the words holidaymakers here use to describe our region. In Doué-en-Anjou, you are completely free to take your time and recharge your batteries so you can start off the new year on the right foot.
Anjou wines are widely varied and allow you to taste the full expression of an extraordinary terroir, at a reasonable price.

The wines of Anjou are the perfect expression of the richness of this special region. From dry Chenin Blancs, with their delicate, taut aromas, to bright, rosy Anjou Cabernets, with their notes of red berries, by way of sweet, yellow Coteaux du Layon, pure and well-balanced, with hints of honey and apricot, our region’s wine comes in a full palette for any palate. Many wineries are scattered across our region, whose owners would be delighted to share their passion with you.

Unique dining venues

In our little corner of the world, it is not uncommon to go underground to eat. In fact, it’s even a tradition when it comes to fouées / fouaces. Many restaurants in Doué-la-Fontaine, Rochemenier and the surrounding areas offer meals made in the Rabelaisian culinary tradition. Discover and sample these little wood-fired rolls, served with a variety of accompaniments in the intimate ambiance of a cave dwelling.

But if you prefer wider spaces, on warm summer nights you can opt to dine at an open-air café on the banks of the Loire, far from the hustle and bustle. As soon as you arrive at these restaurants that feature specialities from the Loire – eel, Loire fish fries, creamy crémets d’Anjou desserts and more – you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere !
